A exciting opening with our NHS client for a payroll clerk. This a great opportunity for candidates who either have:some payroll experience and are looking to gain moreexperience in a similar field (e.g. finance, data entry/analysis, admin), and a willingness to learn and develop into a career in payroll£9.90 per hourDuration - Temporary for 6 Months - with a possible extension subject to performanceLocation - Princess Royal Hospital, Lewes Road, Haywards Heath, RH16 - This role will be Initially for 6 months with possible extension on subject to performance. The shift time will 9.00 am - 5.00 pm however they offer flexi shift time with 2 days hybrid and 3 days at office. MUST BE ABLE TO GET INTO THE OFFICE Hours: This employee will be responsible for the delivery of accurate payments to staff, both weekly and monthly for a defined part of the total payroll, ensuring that legislationWork within the guidelines of NHS SBS and Client policies and procedures, ensuring that Audit requirements are met at all times and deadlines are strictly adhered toResponsible for dealing effectively with queries from customers both internal and external, both by telephone or in person, at all times conveying a professional and efficient attitude and pass any contentious calls to the Deputy Payroll and Pensions Manager /Team Leader, whilst abiding by NHS SBS and Client policies and proceduresReporting to the Deputy Payroll and Pensions Manager /Team Leader for all aspects of payroll work, ensuring the continued smooth and effective running of the section and that all targets are met within defined deadlinesResponsible for ensuring that all National or Local payroll changes are dealt with in accordance with requirements, and that all customers are able to understand the changes that affect their payResponsible for ensuring that all documentation relating to statutory legislation and Terms & Conditions of service is kept up to date and is easily accessible to the rest of the teamVerify written responses to queries from staff, Clients and external agenciesValidation of other payroll officer's temporary and permanent alterations to staff records. Ensure and validate that appropriate checking mechanisms are in place for other members of the team.Ensure that all manual under/overpayments are valid and correctly calculated and payments raised (if appropriate) on a timely basisResponsible for the completion of all basic payroll output for allocated payrolls and some higher level activities under the direction of the Senior Payroll Clerk/ Team Leader Deputy Payroll and Pensions Manager.Ad-hoc tasks deemed appropriate to this level Person Specification Essential Desirable Education / Qualifications and Training Good standard of Education in English and Maths, preferably with GCSE level AC NVQ 3 Qualification or equivalent level.Essential SkillsGood standard of Education in English and Maths, preferably with GCSE level ACProvides assistance to colleagues and forms a relationship with the teamExcellent communication and organisational skillsThe ability to work flexibly, able to respond to increased pressure of work Appreciation of impact of service provided on customer/employeeCompliance to Departmental Internal Controls and the financial framework determined by the Client.Adherence to Client and NHS SBS internal policiesObserves personal duty of care in relation to equipment or resourcesDesirable SkillsNVQ 3 Qualification or equivalent level of experience in Payroll.Experience or knowledge of data-input completionknowledge in checking and interpreting payroll out-putA sound understanding of systems securities Investigates and resolves basic and pay specific enquiriesThe application process will require a 1 hour interview via Microsoft Teams.
