Oakley Recruitment is working in partnership with a well-established, dynamic organisation based in Covent Garden. This is an excellent opportunity to join a thriving fast-paced environment as a Practice Group Clerk on a full-time permanent basis for the Public Law and Immigration team

Summary

Clerking for the Public Law and Immigration diaries

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Liaising with clients to book suitable Counsel
  • Planning ahead in the diary to make sure all papers are delivered early and potential conflicts are dealt with
  • Acting upon any incoming mail
  • Entering briefs/instructions on the computer system.
  • Making sure that the following day's work is in order and sorting the daily next day check-list
  • Liaising with other clerks/solicitors/courts
  • Billing written work, conferences and hearings
  • Reviewing red flags on a fortnightly basis.
  • Overseeing junior clerks in the team
  • Attending client events and seminars as required by Practice Director

Skills and experience

  • Knowledge of Public Law & Immigration diaries.
  • Knowledge of Courts/Tribunal structure in England & Wales and understanding of the different types of hearings
  • Knowledge of legal aid billing and CCMS (LAA online portal)
  • Ability to negotiate
  • Excellent administrative and communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Working as part of a team

Package and benefits

  • Up to £38,000
  • 9:00am - 5:30pm - Monday to Friday
  • 20 days holiday rising to 25 after 3 Years service
